SUNGAME

SUNGAME is a game I'm making in RPGMaker MV. It's about a character trying to find a sun for a town that lacks one. The town is inhabited by strange people and your goal is to find the sun and leave. It's a story driven game with no real gameplay. It's a walking simulator comparable to Yume Nikki.

The people in the town are called HANGMAN and they try to kill you/send you back to the start when you try to leave.

The protagonist, NAME, tries to escape via the houses. Each house is an entrance to a different level of subconscious. The subconscious areas are in full color (not just orange and red) and play a lot like Yume Nikki. You walk around and discover things and learn a bit more about the protagonist each time. You also learn more about who the HANGMAN are and what they represent. I don't want to go into much detail here because I want to save that for the game. Thank you for reading this far.

Here's what the town looks like. It snows in this town because it's always cold. HANGMAN live in the orange houses and NAME lives in the red house. Actually, the red door on the red house is more like an entrance and exit.


This is a cutscene that happens in the first subconscious area where HANGMAN finds you and has a talk with you. At this point, you've snuck past them and entered an area you're not supposed to see, so they try to convince you to stop looking. I don't have many subconscious areas planned out yet but this cutscene is complete. Many of them will look like Yume Nikki dream segments with objects that you interact with to take you to the next one, much like a train of thought. Maybe this subway literally represents a train of thought coming to a stop. (At the end of the cutscene, it kills you in order to take you back to the town.)
